How life continues to evolve . . . or, my first quarter report

Here I am, a full three months into what I’ve been referring to as “off career.” I can see that term becoming a bit cumbersome, so I’m trying to warm up to the “R” word. We’ll see.

At any rate, I thought it would be a good idea to take each quarter of the first year and do a little review. Taking a look in the rear view mirror as they say to see how things are shaping up. We can get so caught up in the daily rhythm and rhyme of life that we often fail to appreciate where we’ve been or where we’re going. This is an attempt to do just that.

Friends for life — literally.

Learning for life . . . a promise.

Last year, as I was planning for this new phase in my life, I made a list of things I wanted to do, activities I wanted to try. One item that soon made its way to the top of the list was “education, classes, workshops.”

Ever since college, I’ve had a real love of learning.

While in school, buried in term papers and projects, I promised myself that one day I would take classes just for the sheer joy of learning about things that I was interested in, with no worry about grades or papers.

Over the years, I’ve taken a class here and there, which only served to wet my appetite.
