Finding Your Ageless Style

Nowadays, fashion and personal style have many fewer rules than in decades past. It’s pretty much an anything goes world, especially regarding personal style. That’s not to say that we shouldn’t take stock of what works for us in terms of lifestyle, situational appropriateness, modesty, and body type. It does mean though that AGE doesn’t have the same weight as it used to when deciding what to wear.

Maybe it’s the fact that there is so much more to choose from, or that older women are refusing to accept elastic waists and sensible shoes as their fashion future, but a lot of what’s current can easily be defined as Ageless Style.

So with that in mind, I thought it would be fun to find images of outfits on younger women that I think are workable, with a tweak here and there, for the over 50 crowd. Here are a few ideas or inspiration for what I think of as Ageless Style.

Under each outfit, I’ve noted changes I would make personally to fit my ageless style.

Take a look and let me know what you think.

Cute dress for Summer. Lengthen it and add a long necklace to give it a V-neckline.

Perfect look.  Just lower the heels.

This is one of my faves. I’m a B&W girl all the way. I would wear this – correction, I DO wear this except with sleeves (short or long), not quite so low cut, and kitten heels.

Only change would be lower heels or flats.  And while I love a good distressed jean, these are a little tight and a bit too distressed for me. Easy fixes.

Love this look.  The layered floaty top is wonderful for camouflaging certain body parts, and pencil skirts work on just about all body types.  I would wear a slighty looser-fitting skirt and a bit longer as well, and a similar top but with short sleeves.

Another great Summer dress, but I’d prefer short sleeves or else I’d top it with a lightweight kimono.

Cute as is (perhaps without the matchy pink bag).

How about you? Do you find inspiration in what younger women are wearing?

Till next time,

Judy

This is an interesting concept and one I hadn’t thought of doing. It opens up so many more options. I like it. Thanks.
